Tea as plant medicine: Cultivating the Sacred in the Ordinary

Worship does not mean offering flowers. / It means offering your heart / To the vast / mystery / Of the universe. / It means letting your heart pulse / With the life of the / universe. / Without thought and without reservation. / It means being so in love / That you are / Willing to dissolve / And be recreated in every moment
— Radiance Sutras, Insight Verse 147

To me, worship means to be of service. I will meet you, as you are, and offer the entirety of my being to our time together. I will hold a quiet space, heart pulsing with the life of the universe, so that we may both become willing to dissolve and be recreated in every moment. This is my promise.

For those who haven’t experienced a Tea Ceremony before, I like to describe it as a form of moving meditation. No prior experience is needed—just a willingness to sit quietly, be present, and enjoy a peaceful moment with a beautiful bowl of Tea.

Tea came into my life during a time when I felt overwhelmed by the pressure to meet society’s expectations. It gently guided me back to myself, one bowl at a time. Tea is like a familiar friend, always leading us back home—to our bodies, to the world around us, and to the present moment, in a soft, loving way that’s open to everyone.

What Happens At A Tea Ceremony?

The Tea Ceremony I offer is rooted in the cycles of Nature and the ancient traditions of Tea’s birthplace, China. During the Ceremony, we’ll sit in silent meditation, drinking Tea as Plant Medicine. This allows us to become more open and present. Our heartbeats slow, our jaws relax, and our minds slow down. Even if you only find an hour of peaceful reflection away from the busyness of life, that’s a gift in itself. But for many, the experience offers so much more.

Tea Journey™

*Book this offering if you’re wanting to experience Tea on your own/with a private group*

Through my own lifelong connection with nature, and many years of sitting with and serving Tea to others, I’ve discovered that deepening our natural bond with the world around us can lead to profound, transformative experiences. I've noticed that people who return for Tea again and again often find this connection happening on its own. That’s why I created Tea Journey™—to offer something extra to those who want to explore this deeper connection beyond our regular Community Tea Sits.

We will begin with a silent Tea meditation, followed by time for sharing and connection. Each Ceremony typically lasts about an hour.

Tea Journey™ is a one-on-one (or private group) Tea Ceremony, located either at The Wild (my tearoom in Calgary Alberta) or out in the wide world.
